So quick update on my life. Getting back into my blogging schedule. I got pretty lazy this month, but I'm correcting that. I am also launching two new blogs on tumblr. Yes I know what you're thinking, that I can't even update this one regularly, how can I possibly handle two more. Don't worry I'll be able to do the three. The first one will be called "Dapper as Fuck." It'll be kind of like this one in condensed form. So expect a lot of pictures and tons of random fuckery. The other one will be called "Food Fuckery." No its not me making love to food. Its just pictures of what I ate that day. And another thing, I WON'T BE LEAVING BLOGGER. These Tumblrs are just extensions of this blog. Steez Beez will still be my main blog. SO MANY ART PROJECTS TO FINISH. I'm surpised I'm not stressed to the point of insanity yet, but once they're all done I know the end result will be great. Working on making an online shop for my artwork and some of the shirts I have printed. You wouldn't believe how much extra shit I have. I'm very excited for the next couple of months because Acorn aka Dapper as Fuck will be launching. Can't wait to show you guys what I have in store. Hmmmm theres more, but most of my readers won't read this giant wall of text so I'll just leave it at that.

So if you don't know, my birthday is this Friday. Turning 19 on the 19th lol (not really funny, but oh well). Another year older and probably a little more mature, I like to think so at least. I remember when I was younger I would want huge parties and ask for tons of things. I'm a little different these days. Those big parties turned into small get togethers with friends and those tons of gifts turned into a few select things that I would rather have than a shitload if useless stuff. This year is no different. Other than birthday sex, these are the things I hope to get on Friday (or at least some money so I can buy these things).

1. Canon Vixia HV30, Opteka X Grip, Baby Death Lens: I want to film shit for my friends. I've got all these really dope ideas for fixed gear videos, but don't have the gear to pull them off. I want to do vlogs because I'm getting too lazy to take pictures. Honestly, its just another toy I want to play around with *Pause.

2. Ponderosa Wallet: Workwear style wallet that I've been eyeing for awhile now.

3. Opinel Knife: I lost my knife and I would like this and only this knife to replace it. Its all about the aesthetics for me

4. Pokemon Cards: I want to feel nostalgic

Resolutions

Hmmm... yes, yes I know I've been lagging on the blog tip lately, but hey it was for good reason. Spent time in L. A. Had a couple adventures. Worked on a shitload of artwork for my new show. Started sampling for my line of jackets, but I know each and every one of my readers are just thinking excuses, excuses. Anyways, this isn't what this post is about. Its about those New Year's Resolutions. I've been pretty good about keeping my resolutions and I won't let this year break the streak. So here are my resolutions for the year 2010:

1. Lose more weight: I've made this promise to myself every year and every year I've made more and more progress. This year I hope to lose a lot more. Gym membership and Cycling FTW!

2. Start making bento: It's a skill I want to learn. That's all

3. Customize more bikes: I did about 3 bikes last year and I'm shooting on building about 5 this year.

4. Get my artwork out there: I do have a ton of loyal fans of my artwork, but I would like to expand my following. Whether it be my photos, prints, illustrations, customs, jackets, or paintings, I want a lot more people buying and appreciating my artwork.

So I've been wanting this pickup for awhile and I'm so glad I got it today. I picked up an AF-S 35mm nikkor lens with a 1.8 f stop. I've wanted a prime lens for a looooooong time now but all the 50mm wouldn't autofocus on the deeforty and the one that did was way out of my price range. So when I found out that Nikon was releasing a 35mm prime for only $200, it was for sure cop for me. The lens is great! Especially for portraits and super close up shots. I think my favorite feature about this lens is that it gives unbelievable bokeh on my shots. Expect me to be shooting with this lens a lot.

So first I'll be mentioning that I'm gonna switch up my post schedule. So no more mass posts in one day. The reason why is because I always think of great ideas to blog about during the week, but when the time comes to blog about it, my mind goes blank. I think its because I wait so long to write about them that I totally forget about my original idea. So from now on whenever I get an idea for the blog, I'm gonna write about it. Enough of that, now to the real post.

Now as you can tell from my mass photo related posts that I love photography. Recently, I tried out a new technique with my camera that lots of people are pretty familiar with. They're called long exposure shots. You pretty much put your camera put at a long exposure setting. This will make the camera catch all the light that is shown in front of it. With this you can come up with some crazy shots. This technique is most common to be used with light graffiti. All you have to do with light graffiti is draw the image you want with some type of light in front of the camera. If you did it right, the image you drew with light will appear in the picture. Here are a few that I've done. Tell me what you think:

Lol. I know I've been pretty ghost from this blog lately, but it is for good reason. I've been really busy with school; finals are just around the corner. I finally figured out what I want to do with my life. I've wanted so many things and it was way too overwhelming to handle. So I narrowed down on my goals. I want my Master's in Illustration and/or Photography. Why these two? Because these two things give me so much joy that I know that they're things I want to do for the rest of my life. Whenever I do an illustration or I do a photoshoot, it doesn't feel like work to me; I'm having fun. Enough with that part of my life. So I have also set a date on my clothing line. Yes, yes I've talked about having a line for a long time now, but this time its for sure. Summer 2010 is the release date and I will be sharing some of the designs here periodically. No, my line will not be called Steez Beez anymore, to be honest, it doesn't have a name yet, but once again I am going to be letting the readers of this blog know. Hmmm, anything else? Nope? Good, enough with the sappy shit and lets get to the real posts.

What is it? Well it's similar to the LV coin pouches lots of people wear nowadays. The only difference is that its bigger, cheaper, and way for practical. For this Sample Sunday I am revealing a Nujabes sample. This is a HUGE deal for me because I usually don't reveal the samples for his beats. Why, you may ask? Its taking me months of constant searching to actually find the samples he uses. Lots of research goes into finding them out and I feel very gratified when I do. There is also another version of Affirmation by George Benson, which gives it a more jazzy feel, but I like Jose Feliciano's much better. Now many of my friends can tell you that I like a wide variety of music. Wheter it be Hip Hop to Hardcore, Gucci Mane to Taylor Swift, I can honestly say that I love it all. There are however particular genres that are held near and dear to my heart. As you can tell by some of my posts, I love beats and samples, but another genre that comes very close to my love of beats is 90's dance music. No I wasn't clubbing it up in the 90's. I wasn't in the parking lot listening to these jams that would come up on the radio. I was too young for that, but I did have a bunch aunts that lived in the same house as me that did. They listened to that stuff for days, and I became accustomed to it. This one was played around the house constantly:

But as soon as my aunts moved out, so did my taste for this music. I started getting into Hip Hop and R&B. I went about several years not hearing that song, until my senior year of high school. This song came on and I instantly became nostalgic, but again, this beautiful genre of music escaped my ears. Then a few weeks ago I went to my cousin's house because it was her birthday. Her brothers own turntables and we played some records. Record after record we listened, then we came to one album that caught my ears and made me feel nostalgic again. It was this:

The Pack vs. The New Boyz... SMH

Like my boy Iron Mike said, "Sounds like a bunch of L's waiting to happen." But on the real though who's actually surprised by this? I mean not to be biased or anything, The New Boyz do look like Pack swaggerjackers, but then again thats my personal opinion. Anyways lets look at the video that started this whole "beef."

Okay, so if you don't know who the people on the video are, its Stunnaman from The Pack and that light skinned dude from The New Boyz (IDK brodie's name). So if you actually watched the video you can clearly hear Stunnaman saying that The "New Girlz" put The Pack's name on a record. I have not heard said record, but I'm pretty sure it was a blatant diss if Stunnaman is calling him up for it, but then again dude is a fool and cracks jokes all the time. My problem with this video is that dude from The New Boyz knew who the fuck it was before Stunna even let it be known that it was him. Another thing, Stunna how are you gonna put dude's number out there? That's some female stuff in my opinion. So my speculation on the last couple of days was that this beef was a publicity stunt. I mean YB of The New Boyz wears a lot Pink Dolphin clothing which is Young L of The Pack's clothing line. So a couple of days into it I keep on thinking its publictiy until I hear this:

So this is straight up doo doo garbage to me. Probably one of the worst songs by Lil' B, but he did gas on this track even if it sucked. I didn't expect a diss track from Lil' B; Stunnaman yes, Lil' B no. So after listening to this I figured this was something serious. Anyways, I'm gonna follow this beef pretty closely. I can't wait to hear a diss track from The New Boyz ( I need a good laugh). I also am waiting for a diss from Stunnaman. He can roast pretty well so I'm sure his track will be fire. Don't believe me?

Round 2 of Sample Sunday at your service. Now lets bring a some more relevant material to the table. Today's sample I shall be revealing is of Drizzy Drake's "Best I Ever Had." Yes yes, Wheelchair Jimmy samples too, but before anything lets do a little background. The song "Best I Ever Had" is off the mixtape So Far Gone. It was produced by Boi-1da, Canadian based producer. It's probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Drake (No Penny). Its probably one of his more popular hits and one of the most quoted; you know those damn girls on Myspace and Twitter always with that same damn status i'M ThE BeSt yOu'Ll EvEr HaVe. Anyways if you haven't heard the song, get familiar:

A great track IMO. Plus the beat on that is fire. Intro with that reocurring piano riff. Where did it come from? Well the sample used in "Best I Ever Had" is "Fallin' in Love by Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds.

Another week of pick ups to review. My friend just got a new job at Zumiez and to celebrate she hooked it up with some stickers. Slim pickings at Zumiez but hey free is free. Got two of each. One for me and well one for you know. Got a couple of charms for my lanyard because that shit is boring, but now it looks more Asian than ever. Last thing I picked up was a linoleum cutter kit for my print making class. I'm really liking that class even though I slip and cut myself a lot.

Yesterday I hung out with Trisha. Had a pretty fun time with her. Went to Monterey. Tried to find parking near the aquarium, but failed in that attempt and just ended up walking on the wharf. Saw seals and mean birds haha. Got her some candy (this girl and candy). Went to weird museums. Then headed back to Salinas. I let her play around with my camera. Ate at the mall. I had Subway and she had Korean... I think. Played on her iTouch until her food was done cooking, she won (I let her win). Got some gas and went back to her house. Met her brother and sister and her dogs haha. Watched Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. I had to leave which was the hardest thing ever. It's okay though, we have forever. So I guess this is a new segmment of the blog. Like the title says its Sample Fucking Sunday. This means I will reveal some samples used in todays latest hits. I do this so I can help people discover music within music. I am not trying to disrespect the producer in any way by revealing the samples they use. Bare with me though, most of the samples I have discovered are for hip hop and R&B music. Its whatever. I'm just a sample junkie trying to share my knowledge. So here we go!

The first sample I'm about to reveal is one that still freaks me out today. The song is "You Don't Know my Name" by Ms. Alicia Keys. This track was PRODUCED BY KANYE WEST. I put that in caps because people who know about Kanye productions can already assume that the beat has some sort of sample. Here's the song if you're unfamiliar:

I love hip hop beats. Sometimes I like the beat more than the lyrics that accompany it. But what I love even more than hip hop beats are hip hop beats with DOPE samples. Piano, jazz, trumpet, guitar, break beats, etc. if a beat contains a sample and uses it in an innovative way, you can guarantee I'll love it. I love samples so much because it lets me discover music within music. What can I say I love crate digging Probably one of my favorite producers who uses dope samples is Nujabes (New-Jah-Bess). *Note Nujabes is one person!!! Its annoying when people say its a group. Anyways, I love trying to find the samples to his beats. I have been pretty successful in my ventures in seeking his samples. One sample has been bothering the fuck out of me though! The song is Lady Brown. It has a nice Latin guitar sample that I've been trying forever to figure out. Finally, with A LOT of searching, I found it. I won't reveal what the original song is in respect to the producer. Crate dig for yourself bitches.

Yesterday me and Camille went to go check out a bike shop that opened up. Not only just to check it out but I was in need of a new pump, a presta adapter, and some new tubes. I must say that the shop was pretty ill. Lots and lots of white. Pretty stocked up on goods. Sorry no pictures. I was there for business and business only. Maybe next time. As I was in there I just couldn't stop thinking about me and Trisha's shop. Hahaha ours will be way better. Anyways I got what I wanted.

After leaving the shop and driving around for awhile, we went to Chili's to have some dinner. Had fried shrimp and french fries. Again no pics, but this time its because I ate my food before I remembered to snap a pic. After dinner we went to World Market to go pick up some Japanese ice cream. We also got some weird bootleg version of Pocky, but this bootleg was way better than the original.
